pulau ubin

october 7th was a rainy morning.. but it sure didn't dampen our spirits to hv a day of fun outdoors. well, perhaps it did dampen mine a little which made me a little draggy n unwilling to get out of bed. heee. but in consideration for the 7 ppl making their way down to my side of the island frm as far as boon lay n yishun, i ran (serious!) out of hm n managed to catch them onboard bus 29. *pants*

well perhaps, the motivation to go perspire stemmed frm me juz not wanting to be alone. =P

the darlings who occupied my thoughts for the whole day!!
[frm left: jess, cheeleng, liying, jason, xueqin, huixian n guiyi]

breakfast cum lunch was the famous changi village nasi lemak n my fav teh tarik.. =D we even purposely bought frm diff stalls to taste the difference between the authentic n the copycats. lol.

aft filling our tum tums, the enthusiastic bunch of us headed towards the jetty for the ferry ride towards the island. it was drizzling but we decided to go ahead anyway..

tis was the us before we got all sweaty, muddy, dirty n stinky.

at last, we reached the only really undeveloped place in s'pore.

while the more sensible ppl plotted out our cycling route n got their bearings...

hopeless map-reader, me, engaged in my fav sport...

cam-whoring!!! lalalala~

aft the maps were figured out, it was time to bargain for the best prices on bikes. all in all, we managed to get pretty decent bikes at $3 for the whole day..

the bicycle park with a gazillion bicycles. we had to lock our bikes here n proceed the rest of our journey towards chek jawa by foot so as not to damage the delicate flora n fauna.

icky muddy floor. haha..

walking on, we came to a storybook-like cottage overlooking the sea. it's actually a museum but we spent more time outside then actually looking n learning abt the fancy coral n shell exhibits tt were really quite pretty.

we r fairytale princesses waiting for our knights in shinning armour!!

those rocks r sharp n slippery. they cut my butt while i struggled to gain footing. *wails*

introducing the guards of honour, guiyi n huixian.

i spy the guard of honour skiving on the job!!! lol.

take my pic hur? i take pic of u too!! *retarded*

pretty pretty.. the old treasurer with the new one.

i dunno who took tis pic n i also dunno y i was looking into the sea alone. i kinda also forgot wat i was tinking abt. oh wells, my hair looks soft. i likeeeee...

someone also managed to catch jason in a spastic moment. wahahaha!

ouch. poor jason stubbed his toe.. he also got stung by a bee. suayness!

huixian: crossroad le.. turn left or right?
unknown malay guy (peddling fast frm our right): ahhhh!! bees!
me: well, at least we noe we can't go right now.
guiyi: but jason just went right!!
(less than 5 secs later)
jason: AHHHHH!!!! BEES...

i guess he juz wasn't fast enough to out-run them.

scene 1:
cheeleng n liying r the happy kids while jason is the emo kia.

scene 2:
liying:
our turn to emo. jason, try to look happy.
jason: *twist*

i guess tts his definition of "happy"..

pics tt speak a thousand wrds... fun moments i wld nv forget.

we were trying to look sexy.. haha. i tink i failed though.

aft staying at the stopover fooling around for long enough, we had to proceed on. but first, xueqin had to find the loo.

n for safety purposes, we enquired abt the tide frequencies too.. sadly, as it was already high-tide, none of the beautiful underwater corals cld be seen. =(

its also gd to familarise ourselves with the rules n the penalties for breaking them.. hmmm, but apparently there obviously no punishment for ubin vandals. did u spot the "$1 fine" error?

aft much walking (or according to cheeleng: burning of nasi lemak calories), we reached the famous hideaway.. it was quite a disappointment but crabs walking sideways were cute n i hv yet to find out the scientific names of those ugly, single, lopsided right-pincer crabs.

n we saw rubber trees!! or is it latex? they use tis to make condoms u noe?? hahahaha..

can u spot a cute camouflaged crab among all the leaves?

tadah!! ^^

high-tide resulted in us not being able to see corals but bcoz of the dept of the sea, we did manage to see a HUGE sch of fishes.. n they sure swim fast!

moving along, we came to a five-story high viewing point. its scary to climb up those shaky n echoing steps. we were also paranoid tt the structure overshot its 20 ppl limit n we wld all come tumbling down frm tt great height.

but the breath-taking view frm up there was soooo worth the strenuous climb to the top.

having spent more than an hr trekking, we were all looking forward to an ice-cold fresh coconut.

a big coconut to be shared be 3. *slurps*

due to the urgency of needing to find a clinic to check on jason's bee sting, we were on the first ferry out of the island. juz as we were worrying abt there being no clinic at changi, jason's ability to start crapping once again greatly relieved all of us enough to hv dinner.

dinner was followed by entertaining little kids whose innocence n genuine laughter as they scrambled to burst bubbles brought us all much joy.

playing with them made me feel somewhat like them... n jason bought me a lollipop to compliment the look. haha.

n i believe liying shared my sentiments. heee.

but of course as some of us played with the children as though we ourselves had travelled back through time, some others sat by the side with their own forms of entertainment. haiz..

jess n cheeleng tries to seduce me. wahahaha! =P

as the night darkened n the little children needed to go hm, we proceeded to one of the lighted pavillions by the beach for some gd old-fashioned daidi n fortune-telling. n for one last time, i wld like to trust tt liying's cards was a true reflection of my romantic affairs. but i guess i wld nv noe.
